An 18-year-old man — who police did not name — was arrested with marijuana and illegal weed edibles, LSD, methamphetamines, and MDMA, Leicester police said. He also had a large amount of cash and a pistol he didn't have a license for.
The man sealed his fate while driving down South Main Street around 12:30 a.m., where police said they saw him violating several motor vehicle laws to avoid being seen by them, officials said. An officer pulled him over, but after they spotted suspected drugs in plain view, the man floored it and sped away.
He didn't make it far before crashing into a guardrail in a heavily populated neighborhood, authorities said. But he wasn't about to give up that easily. He bolted in between the homes and was able to escape capture for about 20 minutes.
But a Massachusetts State police dog quickly found him beneath a home's deck in Cherry Valley. He gave up and was arrested without incident after that, police said.
The man was charged with:
- Failure to stop for police
- Leaving the scene of a crash with property damage
- Negligent operation of a motor vehicle
- Possession of marijuana
- Possession of marijuana with intent to distribute
- Possession of drug paraphernalia with intent to distribute (unregulated edibles not allowed for sale in MA)

- Trafficking methamphetamine
- Possession of LSD

- Possession of a firearm without a license
- Possession of a firearm during a felony

The man was being held on a $5,040 bond, Leicester police said.
